DEDICATED CARE FOR CHILDREN

Children's dentistry

Children's NHS dentist in Holywood, Belfast

Children get free NHS dental care with us, so if your child is under 18 years old (or under 19 if they're still in full-time education) they can receive NHS treatment at our dental clinic. Even if the adults in the family are a private or Denplan patient here, this doesn't mean your children need to be, as they'll be registered separately under the NHS at no extra cost to you.

What's included in my child's NHS dental care?

Children's dentistry under the NHS covers the following:

  • regular check-ups, usually every six months, so we can catch anything early

  • cleaning and straightforward preventative care

  • advice on brushing, diet, and habits that protect their teeth, from when their adult teeth come through and beyond

  • treatment for cavities or other problems if they come up, at no extra cost

When should my child first see a dentist?

Most dental guidance recommends bringing your child in around their first birthday, or as soon as their first teeth come through. This tends to be earlier than most parents expect, but it means we can catch any issues early and get your child comfortable with visits before anything's actually wrong. After that, six-monthly check-ups are the norm.

Registering your child at the dentist

Are you new to the practice, or moving from another dentist? Either way, you can register your child for NHS care with us regardless of whether you're already a patient. Call us on 028 9042 3306, or get in touch through the contact page, and we'll get them booked in.

We're at 94-96 High Street, Holywood, BT18 9HW, easy to reach from Belfast, Bangor, and Newtownards. Our hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm.
